RIP Adam Yauch (aka Nathanial Hörnblowér)
1964-2012
Sadly, Adam Yauch died of cancer today. You may know him as MCA of the Beastie Boys, but he was also involved in filmmaking. He directed most of the music videos of the Beastie Boys and co-founded Oscilloscope Pictures.
Cinema lost a brilliant director.

See me document my weekend projects, from chasing dreams to random things.
A year later
I found an old blog post from exactly the same time last year. Funny how I still feel the same way. Have I really stopped growing?

When we stop questioning our mission in this world, we stop living. It’s a sad cliche that I’m bound to share to my future children and probably to people who are willing to listen. Great if you’re sure with your “mission”; undaunted by questions, dismissive of doubts. But it takes a while, it takes centuries even, to be sure of what one’s purpose is. So if you have that one thing, whether by luck or just the natural progression of securing one’s dreams (thereby baptizing it your mission), you hold on to it. You hold on to it tighter than anything else you’ve ever held on to because the realization that this is what you have to do is motivation enough.
I don’t know what my mission is, although I think I do sometimes. But I’m also the first to admit that I’ve tweaked it more than enough times to make anyone sigh ‘eto na naman siya’.
Should one base their mission on the pursuit of perpetual inspiration? Should it be that thing that makes the inner workings of their body churn and rumble? Should it be that which can change humanity, the society, the environment? That which can make justice a more realistic concept?
I wonder what kind of world there’d be if everyone took on the mission to change it.
